How should I take care of my dog's leather collar?

Don't clean your dog's collar with anything that contains alcohol or ammonia, and don't toss it in the washing machine. Instead, clean with a product designed specifically for leather. If your dog's collar gets dirty, wipe with a slightly damp cloth. Avoid excessive rubbing or saturation with water. To ensure the longest life possible, store your collar out of direct sunlight and away from humidity or excessive heat. Avoid folding.

What should I do if my dog's leather collar gets wet?

Avoid storing your dog's wet collar in a plastic container or anywhere that will keep it from "breathing." Try to always store your dog's collar in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place. If your collar has faux-fur lining and the fur gets wet, blot the fur and then dry with a hair dryer set to the lowest temperature.

How do you make your products?

All of our products are made by hand in Portland, Oregon using the finest materials available. Our dog collars are made from latigo leather, which is thick, tough, and dyed all the way through.

After the pieces of leather are cut, we pay detailed attention to the edges, carefully trimming away any rough or frayed areas. After attaching any metal studs, we then attach the lining. The lining is not glued on, but is instead carefully sewn to the outer leather.

Is it really that important to measure my dog's neck when I am creating a collar?

Measuring around your dog's neck only takes a few seconds, and it will ensure that your dog's collar fits him or her right. It really is a good idea to accurately measure your dog's neck when ordering a custom collar. For instructions on how to determine your dog's neck size, click here.

Can I return a collar that was made just for my dog?

Since our custom leather collars are specialized just for your dog, we cannot offer refunds or exchanges on these items unless they are defective.

Can I make a collar with both letters and studs?

We are able to custom-manufacture collars for you with both letters and studs. Our Make Your Own feature won't support collars with both letters and studs at this time, so if you'd like to combine these metal elements, contact us.

Can I order without a credit card?

Yes. We'll accept mail orders with a money order. Please note that we do not accept personal checks. Visit the Help section for more details.
